CBD and my reluctant workout
Last year, like nearly everyone I know, I made the resolution to take better care of my health in 2020. Why is it so damn hard?
It may sound cliché, but the dawn of a new year is physiologically a great time to always (re) set goals. I wanted to try something I could do and stick to, unlike some of my well-intentioned efforts of the past. I typically hate working out, with a capital HATE, but I went on a tour of a kickboxing class and ended up (being suckered into) signing up for a 16-week kickboxing class. Those trainers are persuasive- no time like the present, right?
For the past 4 weeks, I've been dragging myself to class, and surprisingly, I now love it. I can walk to class, it pushes me out of my comfort zone, is super challenging, and I lose my money if I don't go. So there's that. And, I feel better than I ever have because i've been supporting my workout with recovery products from the BROWN GIRL jane collection. Here's what I use:
I've quickly learned that Sleep is as important to everyday life as it is to the success of any workout. I'm exhausted at the end of the day, particularly on days when I kick box, but I still have trouble with restlessness. As part of my nightly routine, I use the Drift Away Tincture to help my mind settle down and let my body follow so I have that restful nights sleep. Great sleep is so crucial to waking up refreshed and ready to tackle the days challenges (work/being chief hugger and lego maker/etc). Also, the Drift Away Tincture also has the added benefit of helping to fight inflammation so that my ridiculously sore muscles and tendons get some TLC. Because when tomorrow comes, they are going to be taxed again.
Another godsend has been our Body Butter. As a mother to two energetic boys under three, as sore as my body feels, the reality is that my babies really just don’t care about my aching back and the clock doesn't stop. Right before diving into my beautiful daily chaos, aka “mommying”, I always use our Body Butter topically on my most sore spots, which lately is everywhere! I didn’t even know I was capable of feeling such pain in places I never knew existed. The healing properties of hemp and terpenes coupled with the shea butter and camomile help my body recover and relieve the pain from the workout (and baby-picking-upping). It’s literally my favorite!
2020 is going to be amazing for all of us. I know my health journey is similar to a lot of yours- an ongoing process- but I'm happy to be consciously taking time to now focus on my health in the same way I give focus to those around me.
